Potato Gratin with Herbs



This Potato Gratin with Herbs is a rich and creamy dish that's great for any event. Thinly sliced potatoes are layered and dipped in a rich cream that has garlic, thyme, and rosemary mixed in. The dish is then baked until it is golden brown and bubbly. This makes a tasty and comforting side dish that goes well with any main dish.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup grated Gruyre cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter, for greasing

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 375F 190C

In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream and minced garlic over medium heat until it just starts to simmer

Remove from heat

Grease a baking dish with butter

Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, sprinkle with salt, pepper, half of the thyme, half of the rosemary, and half of the grated Gruyre cheese

Pour half of the warm cream mixture over the potatoes

Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, herbs, cheese, and cream

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30-40 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown and bubbly

Let it cool for a few minutes before serving
